Jumilla, Murcia, Spain
Bodegas Carchelo, established in 1990, is situated in Jumilla, Murcia, at the foot of the majestic Sierra del Carche. This protected Regional Park boasts the highest peak, Madama, reaching an impressive height of 1,372 meters. Located in the Mediterranean region, Jumilla benefits from its inland position on a plateau, resulting in a unique climate for Bodegas Carchelo.
Jumilla, positioned to the northeast of the Murcia region, is a city steeped in historical significance. With an expansive municipal area covering 1,000 square kilometers, it forms the highlands of the region. The average altitude of Jumilla stands at approximately 600 meters.

.
Even before Jumilla gained recognition as one of the country’s most promising winegrowing areas and its wines emerged as the best in terms of value for money, Bodegas Carchelo was already enjoying tremendous success with its wines from the Sierra del Carche. Rooted in a rich family history, spanning many years, the winery transformed grapes from its vineyards into the characteristic full-bodied, intensely colored wines with a high alcohol content that were representative of the region.
Red wine holds a special place in the heart of Bodegas Carchelo. The winery’s exclusive focus lies in the production of natural red wines that encapsulate the essence of the Mediterranean climate and the unique qualities of the land. With meticulous attention to detail, Bodegas Carchelo carefully controls the production process and timing while the wine is under its care. The wines are crafted to potentially be stored for extended periods, and each bottle is meticulously sealed to ensure their longevity.
.
.
The vineyards of Bodegas Carchelo are strategically located across various plots within the expansive municipal area of Jumilla. This distribution minimizes the risk of losing the entire harvest to hailstones and offers a diverse range of soil types, altitudes, and orientations on hillsides and valleys. These distinct locations result in varying levels of solar radiation absorption, temperature, and wind exposure. As a consequence, the winery experiences different stages of ripeness and enjoys a staggered grape harvest, producing grapes with a multitude of nuances.
Bodegas Carchelo is dedicated to supporting its city and region. The winery prioritizes following regulations related to fiscal, social, and environmental matters. It also contributes financially to non-profit organizations and associations, with a particular focus on youth initiatives in culture and sports. It is also committed to sustainable development and environmental preservation.
.
.
Visiting Bodegas Carchelo allows people to immerse themselves in a rich tradition while exploring the vineyards, witnessing the winemaking process, and experiencing the essence of wine. The winery offers a collection of exquisite wines that visitors can savor. Additionally, people can explore the charming village of Jumilla, known for its history, picturesque landscapes, and diverse cuisine.
Bodegas Carchelo eagerly welcomes visitors and aims to provide an unforgettable experience by indulging in their remarkable wines and exploring the treasures of the region.
