Created in 1979 by Baron Philippe de Rothschild, the legendary owner of Château Mouton Rothschild, and the famous Napa Valley wine producer Robert Mondavi, Opus One Winery finds itself in the heart of the famous American wine region Napa Valley.
From California To The World
With the goal to create a wine of ultimate quality that reflects the traditions and innovations of both founders, Opus One remains one of the most sought-after bottlings in Napa Valley.

Cultivated with passion and a singular vision, Opus One produces one ultra-premium Bordeaux blend a year. The grapes come from three different parcels, “Q” block, River Parcel, and Ballestra Parcel. Opus One makes its wine with the traditional Bordeaux grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec.

Traditional approaches to winemaking are taken if they work best, but where modern techniques improve the wine growing and wine making process, then they are used. Opus One’s second and only other wine, Overture, is made with the fruit that doesn’t quite make the Opus One grade. Its name is another musical reference, meaning an orchestral piece at the beginning of a composition.
Defined by colonnades on either side, a central courtyard introduces an architectural motif found throughout the building. The winery, like the wine, joins New World and Old World aesthetics. Modern materials – California redwood and stainless steel – are juxtaposed against cream-colored Texas limestone.
Honoring The Vision of The Founders
The quiet profile of Opus One blends with the natural surroundings – the vineyards and rolling hills of the Napa Valley. And just as it honors the land, it honors the light.

Opus One 2015
Initial dark fruit, spice and baking aromas in the 2015 Opus One are interwoven with seductive notes of violet, black tea, and sage. The entry is vibrant with ripe dark fruit flavors of plum, blackberry and blueberry followed by hints of vanilla and cocoa. Silky, fine-grained tannins provide structure and a creamy texture. The wine finishes with fresh acidity and a rich, lingering finish that promises longevity in the cellar.
2010 Opus One
Aromas of blackberry, rose petals, chocolate and espresso accentuate fruity and earthy nuances. Round velvety tannins enrobe a silky texture with a touch of minerality. The flavors of dark fruit are enhanced by the well-integrated acidity. The acidity and tannin structure promise a very long life ahead.
Overture
A timeless expression of our estate vineyards, Overture is full bodied but approachable in its youth. Overture shows generous dark fruit aromas and flavors with a soft, supple mid-palate.
“Wine to me is passion. It’s family and friends. It’s warmth of heart and generosity of spirit.”
ROBERT MONDAVI, co-founder
