Valderiz Bodega

Roa, Spain

In the heart of the renowned Ribera del Duero region in Spain, a family-owned winery has been crafting exceptional wines for over two decades. Valderiz Bodega, founded by Tomás Esteban and now managed by his son Juan Esteban, stands as a testament to their unwavering dedication to winemaking and their profound respect for the land they cultivate.

The story of Valderiz Bodega began in 1980 when Tomás Esteban recognized the immense potential of his plots of land in Roa, Ribera del Duero. Inspired by his father’s teachings and fueled by his own passion for wine, Tomás made the decision to focus solely on vineyard cultivation. Thus, the foundation for Valderiz Bodega was laid, and it quickly gained recognition as one of the region’s most esteemed vineyards.

Over the next decade, Juan Esteban, guided by the family’s deep-rooted commitment, dedicated himself to the meticulous planting and cultivation of the vineyards. In 1997, Bodegas y Viñedos Valderiz was established, coinciding with a period of significant changes in the vine-growing industry, leading to reduced production per hectare. However, the Esteban family’s resilient spirit and united vision resulted in a portfolio of exceptional wines that truly reflect their family heritage and the unique character of their vineyards.

Today, Valderiz boasts over 100 hectares of vineyards, proudly certified as Ecologic Viticulture. Tomás Esteban’s original 90 hectares of meticulously planted vineyards, coupled with 10 hectares inherited from his father, form the backbone of Valderiz Bodega. These vineyards are carefully divided into 45 small parcels, each situated in Roa de Duero, where a rich variety of soils, including pebbles, clay, and limestone, contribute to the wines’ distinct terroir expression.

Valderiz follows traditional vine training methods, predominantly employing the gobelet system, and grafting onto older vineyards through a meticulous massal selection process. This thoughtful approach ensures that each vine receives the utmost care and attention, resulting in the production of grapes of exceptional quality.

The wines of Valderiz Bodega showcase the true essence of Ribera del Duero. From their vibrant reds to their elegant whites, the portfolio encompasses a diverse range of top-quality wines that embody the Esteban family’s commitment to excellence. With a focus on respecting the environment and preserving the natural balance of the vineyards, Valderiz adheres to the principles of sustainable viticulture.

.

.

Valderiz Bodega’s dedication to crafting remarkable wines while honoring their ancestral traditions has earned them a well-deserved reputation within the industry. Their wines have captured the attention of wine enthusiasts and critics alike, drawing praise for their depth, complexity, and remarkable sense of place.

As Valderiz Bodega continues to evolve, guided by the Esteban family’s passion and unwavering commitment, it remains a shining example of the exceptional wines that can be achieved through a harmonious blend of tradition, innovation, and a deep love for the land.
