Top 5 Wineries In Tuscany!

By WIA4 Mins Read
Tuscany is home to the Chianti region which is the most famous region for Sangiovese. When Sangiovese became the required major grape in Chianti during the 1970s, the other noble grapes (Cab and Merlot) ended up creating a new style of wine: Super Tuscan. For white wines in this region, keep in mind that Trebbiano is Italy’s most produced white grape and Vermentino has quite a few taste similarities to Sauvignon Blanc.

Here are some of the top 5 must visit wineries in Tuscany

1. Marchesi Antinori Winery

The Antinori family is committed to the art of winemaking since 1385. It was the time when Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member, of the “Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri”. All throughout its history, twenty-six generations long, the Antinori family has managed the business directly making innovative and sometimes bold decisions while upholding the utmost respect for traditions and the environment.

2. Tenuta Luce

Tenuta Luce equipped itself with a new Winery, an underground structure conceived so that it would blend perfectly with the surrounding landscape and nature, representing the harmony that is typical of our wines, and with Collezione Luce which like an ancient library preserves and tells the history of Tenuta Luce’s wines. Here, as in the vineyards, the values of Tenuta Luce guide each choice we make. And while in the vineyards there’s the beauty of nature, here there’s beauty built by man to inspire us to work better and better.

3. Giodo Winery

Everything at Giodo is underpinned by the concept of uncompromising quality. The entire process takes its start from the selection of clones and vines that are ideal for producing wines that are elegant, well-balanced and with impressive length. Every decision, every individual detail, whether in the vineyard or the winecellar, is of the greatest importance and merits full and meticulous attention. Those small details are the indispensable tesserae that compose the mosaic that Carlo Ferrini’s experience and expertise makes absolutely unique, the creation that his extraordinary passion has successfully handed on to his daughter Bianca.

4. San Filippo Winery

The Wine Estate San Filippo lies in the heart of the most beautiful part of the Tuscan countryside, just two kilometres from Montalcino. This landscape, with its magnificent vineyards where the Brunello is made, and the yellow cornfields of the Val d’Orcia, has been declared a World Heritage site by Unesco. Offering a perfect combination of nature, art and the finest Tuscan food and wine, it is the ideal place to spend a relaxing holiday. The famous art cities of Siena and Florence are within easy reach of the Wine Estate San Filippo, as well as enchanting smaller towns such as Bagno Vignoni, Pienza, Montepulciano, and the wild coastal region of the Maremma.

5. Frescobaldi Toscana Winery

The history of the Frescobaldi family starts over a thousand years ago and is closely connected with the history of Tuscany. At the high point of medieval Florence, the Frescobaldis spread their influence as bankers, earning the title of treasures to the English crown. A little later, with the flowering of the Renaissance, they became patrons of major works in Florence, such as the construction of the Santa Trinita bridge and the Basilica of Santo Spirito.
