Château La Coste

Aix-en-Provence, France

Nestled within the breathtaking Provençal countryside, Château La Coste is an extraordinary estate spanning 200 hectares, boasting a rich history that traces back to ancient Roman times. The enchanting landscape is adorned with vineyards, cypresses, stone pines, olive trees, and oaks, creating a captivating setting for wine enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

At the heart of this idyllic terroir stands the magnificent country house of Château La Coste, a Palladian-style architectural gem dating back to 1682. It serves as a testament to the estate’s heritage and provides a glimpse into the timeless beauty of the region. Surrounded by such remarkable surroundings, Domaine Château La Coste proudly encompasses three esteemed vineyards that have earned a reputation for excellence in the region.

Embracing the generosity of its terroir, Château La Coste places great emphasis on nurturing the soil and preserving the natural environment. The estate adopts an organic winemaking process, applying biodynamic principles and prioritizing quality over quantity. Each step is taken with profound respect for the natural world and a deep sense of humility. The wines produced at Château La Coste reflect the authentic French art de vivre and evolve over time to reveal the full potential of the terroir.

For visitors seeking to immerse themselves in the world of Château La Coste, there are numerous opportunities to explore and discover. The architecturally stunning wine cellar, designed by the renowned Jean Nouvel, offers a captivating space to delve into the estate’s organic wines. Guests can also engage in wine-tasting workshops or simply relish the beauty of the property.

Conveniently situated between the historic city of Aix en Provence and the Luberon National Park, Château La Coste occupies a privileged location in the heart of Provence. It seamlessly harmonizes Wine, Art, and Architecture, as exemplified by the iconic winery created by Jean Nouvel. This state-of-the-art vat room, inaugurated during the grape harvest in 2008, represents a blend of innovation and aesthetics. Its avant-garde design featuring steel sheets contributes to the preservation of the wines’ natural flavors and aromas.

The winery comprises two distinct buildings dedicated to the storage, maturation, and bottling of the harvested grapes. The first building houses hand-sorting machinery and pressing equipment, while the adjacent structure accommodates bottling facilities and expansive storage areas. Hidden beneath the earth’s surface, a remarkable underground cellar awaits, accessible through steel footbridges. It is in this subterranean sanctuary that Domaine Château La Coste’s wines mature, gradually developing their unique character.

In recognition of its profound commitment to the land and sustainable farming practices, Château La Coste’s wines were awarded the prestigious “Organic Farming” label in 2009. This designation acknowledges the estate’s deep respect for nature and its harmonious coexistence with the environment. Since 2013, the entire 200-hectare vineyard has been cultivated organically, exemplifying Château La Coste’s dedication to responsible viticulture.

Château La Coste invites visitors to embark on a remarkable journey through its history, terroir, and commitment to sustainable winemaking. Immerse yourself in the beauty of Provençal landscapes, savor exquisite organic wines, and experience the harmonious blend of Wine, Art, and Architecture that defines this extraordinary estate.
