Domaine de la Mongestine
Artigues, France
Domaine de la Mongestine, located in the heart of the Provence-Verdon region near Artigues village, is a renowned producer and distributor of natural wines. With a focus on regulated practices and controlled prices, the domain caters to discerning wine enthusiasts. Embracing ancestral methods, they prioritize nature and avoid chemical interventions in cultivation and winemaking. Simultaneously, the domain adopts innovative organizational strategies and utilizes modern tools and technologies for efficient wine production management.
.
.
In the vineyards, the domain uses specialized machinery to reduce passes and protect vines from unwanted plants. They also use plant cover to nourish the soil and reduce fuel consumption. To promote sustainability, they upgraded equipment for biodynamic preparations and implemented an advanced harvesting machine to minimize unwanted grapes and vine damage. In the cellar, they prioritize strict temperature control by replacing vats and using centralized management. Intelligent pneumatic presses have replaced old ones to ensure high-quality must, and rigorous equipment maintenance minimizes emergencies. Computerized systems optimize processes and improve efficiency.
All the wines produced at Domaine de la Mongestine undergo natural vinification processes. They are fermented without the use of yeasts, enzymes, or sulfur. Both red and white wines remain unfiltered, ensuring the preservation of their natural characteristics. However, the Monges rosé cuvée is gently filtered using diatomaceous earth to meet the clarity requirements of the AOP.

.
In the last three years, Domaine de la Mongestine has built a skilled and dedicated team devoted to the realization of their project. The remarkable quality and originality of their wines stem from the collective efforts of the entire team rather than a single winemaker. Each member contributes to various aspects, including tillage, vinification, blending, order management, cost control, and cellar reception. Their shared emphasis on quality, drinkability, naturalness, customer service, and affordability guarantees the ongoing success of the domain.
Domaine de la Mongestine spans 120 hectares, with 40 hectares of vineyards on a picturesque hillside surrounded by forests. The microclimate sets it apart in Provence. Summers bring cool nights and hot, sunny days resembling northern climates. This diversity allows for a wide range of grape varieties, including Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Vermentino, Grenache Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and more. The clay-limestone soils vary across the hillside, with lower slopes being clayey and humid, while upper areas have drier, gravelly compositions. Cooler temperatures near the forest benefit heat-sensitive grapes like Pinot Noir, while safre corridors are perfect for cultivating Syrah. This grape variety, exposure, and terroir diversity contribute to 12 unique cuvées with distinct identities.
.
.
Domaine de la Mongestine not only excels in winemaking but also seamlessly complements tourism activities in the Provence Verte region. It caters to those seeking natural and authentic experiences, continuously improving its certified wine tourism offerings. Visitors can enjoy the tranquility and exceptional preservation of the site. The domain embodies a balanced approach, blending traditional and sustainable practices with modern technology. With a dedicated team, diverse grape varieties, and a breathtaking location, Domaine de la Mongestine creates exceptional wines while providing an unforgettable experience in the heart of Provence.
