1. NYETIMBER

.

Nyetimber, an English winery with a rich history dating back almost a millennium, has evolved through three significant milestones. First mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086, Nitimbreha, the estate’s original name, made its historic debut as a peaceful valley, hinting at a potential future in viticulture. The second milestone arrived nearly 902 years later in 1988 when the first vines were planted.

Nyetimber embraced the classic trio of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, ushering in a new era of sparkling wine production in the shelter of the South Downs. The third milestone occurred in 2006 when Eric Heerema assumed the role of Owner and Custodian of Nyetimber, recognizing the estate’s exceptional soil and location, yet believing it had not fully realized its true potential.

2. BALFOUR WINERY

.

Balfour Winery, nestled within the enchanting Hush Heath Estate in Kent, England, has emerged as a celebrated English vineyard, particularly renowned for its exquisite pink sparkling wine. Established in 2002 by the visionary couple Richard and Leslie Balfour-Lynn, the winery swiftly garnered international acclaim with the launch of their inaugural creation, the Balfour Brut Rosé from the 2004 harvest.

The story of Balfour Winery began with the acquisition of an adjacent 400-acre farmland to the Hush Heath Estate by the Balfour-Lynn family. Inspired by their fondness for the Billecart Salmon Rosé, Leslie Balfour-Lynn envisioned creating a pink sparkling wine that could rival it.

3. OASTBROOK ESTATE VINEYARD

.

At the heart of this captivating story lies the dedication and passion of winemaker and owner America Brewer. Originally hailing from the Bahia region of Brazil, America has embarked on a remarkable journey that has led her to a new life in the serene English countryside, where she shares her days with her husband Nick and their daughter Gabby. Together with her loyal canine companion Lora, America tends to the vines she first planted in 2018, nurturing them with a deep love for winemaking that has become the driving force behind her English viticultural adventure.

Nestled in the picturesque Sussex countryside, the vineyard invites visitors to partake in an enchanting journey through the world of wine, led by none other than the passionate owners and winemakers themselves, America and Nick. Each vineyard tour promises a delightful and interactive experience, making it the ideal choice for both seasoned wine enthusiasts and those new to the world of wine. Additionally, the vineyard offers a children’s tour, ensuring that younger visitors can also share in the magic of the vineyard, fostering a love for viticulture and the beauty of the Sussex countryside.

4. GUSBOURNE

.

Since their inaugural planting of vines in 2004, Gusbourne has been driven by a singular vision: to create the most exceptional vintage wines by exclusively utilizing grapes from their very own vineyards. Across the Gusbourne Estate, spanning 60 hectares in Appledore, Kent, and an additional 30 hectares adjacent to the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, the vineyard meticulously cultivates high-quality Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes.

These predominantly Burgundian clones are known for yielding smaller yet intensely flavorful fruit, perfectly suited to the unique microclimates of their English terroirs.  Gusbourne made its grand entrance onto the global wine stage with the release of its debut vintages—Brut Reserve 2006 and Blanc de Blancs 2006—in 2010. These remarkable wines were met with critical acclaim and garnered accolades from the world’s most discerning wine critics.

5. TINWOOD ESTATE VINEYARD

.

The Tinwood Estate’s vineyards are situated in the heart of West Sussex at the foot of the South Downs National Park. Since the first planting in 2007, Tinwood has quickly established a reputation for producing the very finest English sparkling wines. As a result of this it has become well known for its quality English sparkling wine. This includes The Estate Brut, the Blanc de Blancs and an exquisite Rosé.

The Tinwood Estate’s vineyards you’ll get the opportunity to visit the vineyard and see the grape growing process and you’ll certainly learn more about English wine. Afterwards you can enjoy time in the stunning tasting room overlooking the vines whilst tasting the range of English sparkling wines. Wild flower meadows, new hedgerows and now special wild flowers amongst the vines to promote biodiversity on the farm have been planted at the vineyard. The Estate’s ethos is about working with nature rather than working against it.

6. CAMEL VALLEY VINEYARD

.

Since 1989, Camel Valley has been a shining beacon in the world of winemaking, producing award-winning wines that reflect the beauty of their sun-soaked slopes near the renowned Camel River in Cornwall. The secret to their exceptional wines lies in several key elements. It begins with their picturesque location, where the combination of abundant sunshine and the right soil and climate creates an ideal environment for grape cultivation.

Traditional vineyard practices, harmoniously blended with modern winemaking techniques, further enhance the quality of their wines. However, the most crucial ingredient in the formula for success is the Lindo family’s unwavering passion for crafting wines that deliver pure pleasure to those fortunate enough to enjoy them..

7. THE MOUNT VINEYARD

.

The Mount, an English vineyard located in the picturesque village of Shoreham, has been crafting exceptional wines since 2008. In 2016, it opened its doors to guests, offering a unique wine experience shaped by the micro-climate of the Darent Valley. This singular terroir provides the vineyard with the perfect conditions to produce vintages that narrate a story of their own, setting The Mount apart as a destination like no other.

What began as a family home for Simon and Sarah has blossomed into an inviting English vineyard, complete with a restaurant, shop, and a breathtaking venue for wine tasting experiences, special events, weddings, and a showcase of local products. The dedicated team at The Mount shares a passion for creating exceptional guest experiences, striving to make the vineyard a place that is welcoming, fun, inclusive, and rewarding for all who visit.

8. ROEBUCK ESTATE

.

Founded in 2013 in the picturesque region of Petworth, West Sussex, Roebuck Estates is the brainchild of two friends who share a deep-rooted passion for crafting exceptional wines. United by a vision to produce outstanding vintage sparkling wines annually, their venture has been a testament to their unwavering dedication to quality. The key to their success lies in the cultivation of their own estate vineyards, strategically located across five diverse parcels of land.

These vineyards, nestled within the South Downs National Park, bring a wealth of distinct soil types to the table, each contributing its unique characteristics to the final blends. This diversity translates into a wide range of stylistic elements that shine through in Roebuck Estates’ classic English sparkling wines, captivating the palates of wine enthusiasts.
