1. Château Pape Clément

.
Château Pape Clément is a grand cru wine estate in the Pessac-Léognan appellation situated in the Graves viticultural area. Known to be one of the oldest Bordeaux Grands Crus, the estate’s vineyard was established by Bertrand de Goth, who in 1305 became Pope Clément V, the name which was subsequently given to the Château. The first harvest there took place in 1252, laying the foundations for an outstanding cultural heritage. In 1980 Bernard Magrez acquired the estate.
Based on a soil with exceptional components, the 60 hectares of this vineyard are devoted to the meeting of passion and work. Each plot, vine and grape is carefully tended according to vine-growing tenets developed over centuries. This terroir stretches over three plots surrounding the Château and benefits from both ancestral savoir-faire and cutting-edge technology.
2. Maison Ruinart

.
Champagne Ruinart, established by Nicolas Ruinart in 1729, was the first Champagne house in the world. The maison’s easily recognisable bottles hark back to the eighteenth century, as does the tradition of aging wines in their medieval chalk cellars, Les Crayéres, which are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These ethereal vaults sit 40 meters beneath the city of Reims and stretch eight kilometers long, providing a naturally cool and dark environment for storing wine.
Chalk is key to growing quality Chardonnay, the one white grape of the traditional three used to make Champagne. Ruinart is renowned for its clear-bottled Blanc de Blancs, which blends fruit from a variety of chalk-rich Premier Cru soils across the region. The maison practices sustainability, including using a lightweight, recyclable ‘Second Skin’ instead of gift boxes.
3. Veuve Clicquot

.
Since its establishment in 1772, Veuve Clicquot has held its motto, “One quality, the very first,” in high regard. This longstanding commitment to excellence has been preserved through a relatively short lineage of just 11 Chefs de Caves, who have continually pursued a quest for quality, ensuring the enduring legacy of the Veuve Clicquot style, characterized by its strength and complexity. This unwavering dedication to quality remains at the core of the Maison’s values, making Veuve Clicquot an icon in the world of Champagne.
In the contemporary era, Veuve Clicquot stands as one of the Champagne region’s most significant landholders in terms of both surface area and quality. With 390 hectares of vineyards that span across 12 of the 17 Grands Crus and 20 of the 44 Premiers Crus within Champagne, the Maison boasts an exceptional heritage. This vineyard legacy, built over the centuries since its founder’s time, reflects the influence and innovation of many managers, with the indelible mark of Madame Clicquot being particularly noteworthy. The composition of the Veuve Clicquot vineyard is a testament to its commitment to diversity, with 47% Chardonnay, 36% Pinot Noir, and 17% Pinot Meunier contributing to the distinctive and celebrated wines produced by the Maison.
4. Louis Roederer

.
The Allegrini family has played a pivotal role in the rich history of Fumane and Valpolicella Classica since the 16th century, diligently preserving the vine and wine culture across generations. The remarkable legacy of Giovanni Allegrini, the visionary force behind the Valpolicella region’s revival, has been entrusted to the hands of the next generation: his children, Walter, Franco, and Marilisa.
Today, the tradition lives on with the seventh generation, represented by Silvia, Walter’s daughter, and Francesco, Franco’s daughter. Together with Marilisa, they continue to lead the Allegrini winery. The winery upholds its deep-rooted family values while embracing innovation and a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. The harmonious blend of top-tier raw materials and a steadfast winemaking tradition remains the cornerstone of Allegrini’s enduring success as a brand.
5. Bollinger

.
Since 1829, the Bollinger family has crafted exceptional wines with a powerful, refined, and expressive style. This distinct taste comes from their affinity for Pinot Noir’s elegance, unwavering commitment to excellence, exceptional vineyard, and artisanal savoir-faire. Champagne Bollinger is a shared passion among devoted wine enthusiasts, a legacy perpetuated since Madame Bollinger’s time.
Bollinger’s vineyard spans Champagne’s finest terroirs, covering 179 hectares with 85% Grands and Premiers crus. They are one of the few Champagne Houses producing the majority of their grapes, cultivating 7 distinct plots, including rare ungrafted vines like Clos Saint-Jacques and Chaudes Terres. These vines are carefully tended by hand, preserving an extraordinary heritage and producing the exceptionally rare cuvée Vieilles Vignes Françaises.
6. Maison Louis Jadot

.
Maison Louis Jadot, an esteemed winery, traces its roots back to 1826 when it acquired the revered Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules in Burgundy. Founded officially in 1859 by Louis Henri Denis Jadot, the winery became a trailblazer in promoting Burgundy’s viticultural heritage through a successful negociant business focused on Northern European markets. For nearly two centuries, Jadot’s descendants have nurtured the winery and preserved its unique terroir by uniting numerous vine parcels, ensuring the enduring quality of their wines.
Throughout its illustrious history, Maison Louis Jadot has remained dedicated to showcasing the essence of Burgundy and its viticulture. Successive generations have carefully stewarded the land, passing down vine parcels, creating a seamless thread that intertwines the past and the present, resulting in wines that epitomize the essence of Burgundy’s terroir.
7. Domaine Chanson

.
Domaine Chanson, a renowned winery, takes pride in owning historical properties such as “La Tour des Filles” or “Bastion de l’Oratoire.” The origins of this fortified tower trace back to the mid 15th century when it was built on the old battlements of Beaune, a town in Burgundy, constructed by the first dukes of Burgundy. Over time, it played a crucial strategic role due to its location near the borders of a newly expanded Kingdom and was fortified to protect the town and its inhabitants. In the 9th century, during the flourishing wine trade era, Alexis Chanson, the headmaster of the House, expanded the structure to accommodate the growing collection of wines. Today, the Bastion houses over 10,000 bottles of wine, benefiting from its thick walls that shield the wines from sunburn and harsh winter conditions.
The winery’s history is closely intertwined with the rich winemaking tradition of Burgundy. The region’s renowned vineyards, exclusively owned by Domaine Chanson, encompass 45 hectares, comprising prestigious Premier and Grand Crus. Among them are the beautiful villages of Côte de Beaune, including Santenay, Chassagne Montrachet, Puligny Montrachet, Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune, Pernand Vergelesses, and Corton. Domaine Chanson has earned a reputation as one of the foremost specialists in Premier Crus in the charming town of Beaune, boasting ownership of 25 hectares in the ten most beautiful Beaune Premiers Crus.
8. Domaine Frédéric Magnien

.
The art of winemaking has deep roots, often passed down through generations like a treasured family heirloom. Michel Magnien stands proudly as the fourth generation of vintners in the Magnien family, a lineage woven into the tapestry of winemaking history. From his earliest days, Michel’s hands were no strangers to the vines, as he toiled alongside his father, Bernard Magnien, the third-generation owner of a 4-hectare vineyard.
With passion as their compass, they nurtured, harvested, and crafted these vines into wines that would later tell the story of their dedication. Central to biodynamic viticulture is the application of meticulously prepared solutions, imbued with energy and intention. These formulations enrich the soil and nourish the vines, enhancing their intrinsic connection to the land. The celestial dance of the moon guides planting, pruning, and harvesting, optimizing each activity for maximum efficacy.
9. Zind-Humbrecht

.
Zind-Humbrecht is a prestigious winery with a rich history dating back to 1620, where the Humbrecht family has passed down the art of winegrowing from generation to generation in the beautiful terroirs of Alsace. Established officially as Domaine Zind Humbrecht in 1959, the estate is now under the capable leadership of Olivier and Margaret Humbrecht, who took over from Léonard and Geneviève Humbrecht in 1989. Their dedication to preserving the expression of terroir through Alsace grape varieties is evident, and they employ organic and biodynamic practices to cultivate their vines, ensuring ripe, balanced, and concentrated grapes that naturally reflect the unique characteristics of each terroir.
The winemaking process at Domaine Zind Humbrecht is meticulously handled to maintain the harmony of their terroirs. Slow fermentations and extended aging on the lees for a minimum of 6 months result in wines of exceptional depth and complexity. They bottle the wines between 12 to 24 months after harvest, allowing them to reach their full potential. The estate’s emphasis on respecting the vine and soil life is underscored by a team of 22 dedicated staff members who carry out most viticultural tasks manually. The use of animal traction and their compost further reduces the impact of mechanical compaction on the soils. With an average yield of around 35hl/ha and an annual production of 12,000 to 16,000 cases, the winery ensures a balance between quantity and quality.
10. Marcel Deiss

.
Marcel Deiss is a prestigious winery situated in Bergheim near Ribeauvillé, in the heart of the Grand Cru region of Alsace. The estate was established in 1947 and is deeply rooted in a family with a long lineage of winegrowers, blacksmiths, and bell founders who settled in Alsace after significant historical events. Today, the estate is under the management of Mathieu Deiss, who works alongside his father Jean-Michel. Their vision is to produce wines of exceptional quality, emphasizing the importance of terroir over standardized grape varieties. The estate follows biodynamic practices, adopts agroforestry, and aims for very low yields, all of which contribute to their pursuit of producing wines that reflect the unique essence of the land.
For over 40 years, Marcel Deiss has taken a unique approach to winemaking in Alsace, focusing on promoting “Lieu” viticulture and embracing the concept of “Terroir.” Terroir is a complex idea deeply rooted in French philosophy, encompassing the interaction between the land’s physical and metaphysical characteristics and the winemaker’s practices and personality. Marcel Deiss firmly upholds the principles of terroir, allowing the natural attributes of the land to shine through and express the true potential of the vines without resorting to overproduction. This dedication to the essence of the land sets them apart in the world of winemaking.
11. Château Maris

.
Château Maris is a renowned winery situated in La Livinière, at the heart of the Minervois region between Toulouse and Montpellier. The estate, covering 45 hectares of land, is divided into numerous plots on the sun-drenched south-facing hillside above La Livinière. The terroir is characterized by a gentle slope and a rich combination of schist, sandstone, quartz, marble, and limestone, which have developed over millions of years. This diverse soil, consisting of sand, clay, and pebbles, forms terraces at different elevations, providing an ideal environment for cultivating vines. Embraced by the Mediterranean sun and cooled by winds from the nearby Pyrenees, the vines benefit from a unique climate, imbuing the wines of Château Maris with distinctive character.
Committed to sustainable practices, Château Maris earned its Ecocert certification in 2002, followed by Biodyvin in 2004 and Demeter in 2008. The winery’s deep respect for nature is central to its philosophy. Following biodynamic viticulture principles, the team acknowledges the role of life in all its forms and strives to care for and understand nature on a daily basis. They meticulously observe lunar and solar cycles to work in harmony with nature, allowing the complex ecosystem of the vineyard’s soils and living organisms to influence the grape’s quality and flavors. This belief in more respectful practices forms the foundation for producing wines of exceptional quality.
12. Domaine Fournier

.
The history of Domaine Fournier Père et Fils intertwines with that of Sancerre itself. From its very inception, we have been an integral part of this renowned appellation, witnessing its first moments and embracing all its excellences. Our wines have stood as faithful companions to gourmet tables, embodying a certain French gastronomy characterized by pleasures, traditions, good taste, and expertise.

13. Domaines Ott

.
Domaine Ott, a renowned winery with a rich history, was founded in 1896 by Marcel Ott, a young agronomy engineering graduate from Alsace. After touring numerous vineyards in France, he fell in love with an estate in Provence, where the Mediterranean’s gentle waves kissed the shore nearby. However, the region had suffered from the devastating phylloxera outbreak, necessitating the costly replanting of vineyards. Undeterred, Marcel Ott purchased several estates and embarked on a mission to create exceptional Provencal wines from noble grape varieties. Over 120 years later, Jean-François Ott continues the legacy, upholding his ancestor’s love for the site and passion for winemaking.
In 2004, Domaines Ott* merged with the prestigious wine house Louis Roederer, known for its excellent wine selection. Today, Jean-François and his dedicated teams manage three distinct estates under the Domaine Ott umbrella: Château de Selle, Clos Mireille, and Château Romassan. Each estate produces elegant rosé, red, and white wines, showcasing the region’s winemaking prowess. Notably, the famous “Cœur de Grain” stands as a pinnacle of winemaking genius, enclosed in a bottle inspired by the grace of Provence’s landscape, reminiscent of an elegant ancient amphora.
