Domaine Grand-Chemin
Occitanie, France
Located in the picturesque region between Alès, Nîmes, and Montpellier, Domaine Grand-Chemin has stood as a testament to family heritage and winemaking tradition for over 300 years. Steeped in history and nestled in the lower foothills of the Cévennes, this estate boasts a warm and authentic tasting area in Savignargues, inviting visitors to explore its rich legacy and exceptional wines.
Jean-Marc Floutier, Emmanuel, and Frédéric warmly welcome wine enthusiasts to their family-owned winery. As you step onto the estate, you’ll be immersed in the captivating world of Languedoc-Roussillon. Bathed in abundant sunshine and embraced by the Mediterranean’s cultural allure, this land breathes life into the wines produced here.
.
.
For five generations, the Floutier family has skillfully managed Domaine Grand-Chemin, navigating the ups and downs that accompany a lifelong commitment to winemaking. The vineyard management choices made over the years have sculpted the estate into what it is today.
Situated just a few kilometers from Uzès, Anduze, and the renowned Pont du Gard, Jean-Marc and Emmanuel Floutier, proud independent winegrowers, cultivate 70 hectares of vines passed down through the generations. They approach vineyard management with utmost respect, nurturing the clay-limestone soils that give birth to their exceptional wines.
Domaine Grand-Chemin produces a diverse range of wines, reflecting the unique character of the region. Protected Geographical Indication Pays d’Oc and Cévennes, as well as Protected Designation of Origin Duché d’Uzes, grace the labels of their varietal wines and remarkable blends.
.
.
The vineyards, spread across Savignargues and Aigremont, boast a tapestry of thirteen grape varieties. Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Grenache Gris, Cinsault, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, and Viognier thrive in this idyllic setting. The harmonious combination of Mediterranean heat and cool Cevennes nights creates the perfect microclimate, imparting intense aromas to the wines.
Driven by a deep commitment to environmental conservation and employee well-being, Emmanuel Floutier embraced sustainable winegrowing practices years ago. As a member of the Terr’Avenir association, Domaine Grand-Chemin holds ISO 14001 certification, reflecting their dedication to responsible viticulture. From reducing herbicide inputs through tillage to implementing grass cover to protect water sources, their efforts ensure the preservation of the land.
.
.
Emmanuel Floutier’s winemaking philosophy embraces tradition while leveraging cutting-edge equipment. Carefully tending to the grapes and controlling fermentation temperatures allows the finesse, exuberance, and aromatic profiles of the wines to shine. The selection of grapes, such as Cinsault-Grenache, Viognier, Grenache-Syrah, Red Blend, and Cabernet Sauvignon-Pinot Noir, showcases the estate’s commitment to crafting exceptional wines.
At Domaine Grand-Chemin, every bottle encapsulates centuries of winemaking expertise, respect for terroir, and a deep love for the land. Embark on a journey through time and terroir, exploring the flavors that make this estate a treasure in the heart of the Cévennes.
Join Jean-Marc, Emmanuel, and Frédéric as they invite you to experience the legacy, passion, and exceptional wines of Domaine Grand-Chemin. Plan your visit today and discover the true essence of Languedoc-Roussillon.
