SingleThread: Where Farm, Table, and Inn Become One
Tucked into the rolling hills of Sonoma County, SingleThread symbolizes a seamless fusion of mindful farming, elevated dining, and warm hospitality. Conceived by the dynamic duo of chef Kyle Connaughton and his wife—head farmer Katina Connaughton—this Healdsburg-based sanctuary blossomed from their shared vision of crafting a culinary haven rooted deeply in its land and seasonality.
At the heart of SingleThread lies its 24-acre farm in the Dry Creek Valley. Katina leads the agricultural philosophy with unyielding devotion, nurturing biodiversity through greenhouses, heirloom orchards, loamy fields, olive groves, beehives, and floral plots. The team cultivates hundreds of varieties of culinary crops and cut flowers, all by hand and with a reverence for soil health. Intentional practices like avoiding pesticides, companion planting, and composting ensure salad greens, herbs, vegetables, and flowers that are not only nutrient-rich but full of character, sustaining the environment while inspiring the kitchen.

The restaurant, just a few miles away downtown, is a three-Michelin-starred gem with just five guest rooms nestled above dining. It serves a seasonal, Kaiseki-inspired tasting menu—typically ten or eleven courses—that reflects the day’s harvest, customized to guests’ preferences. Each evening’s dishes are shifting expressions of the farm’s rhythms and the land’s gifts. While rooted in Japanese technique and sensibility, the cuisine embraces Napa Valley’s rich abundance with understated elegance and grace.
Guests who stay in the inn enjoy privacy, thoughtful in-room breakfasts, and reserved seating at the celebrated restaurant. Breakfast elements—from matcha to locally foraged snacks—keep echoes of home and hospitality alive. The inn allows visitors to wake and dine in a manner that feels as natural as a quiet morning on the farm.

Beyond daily offerings, the SingleThread ethos includes immersive experiences designed to deepen connection with food systems and storytelling. Seasonal workshops in floristry, farming, and kitchen techniques invite guests to get their hands in the soil or explore floral craft. Additionally, their innovative ThroughLine program pairs a twelve-course omakase-style menu with a cinematic, multi-part film series that illuminates the journey of ingredients—from field to plate—cultivating mindfulness around food and sourcing.
SingleThread’s unwavering commitment to sustainability, seasonality, and community engagement has earned it some of hospitality’s highest honors—including three Michelin stars, a Green Star for eco-conscious practices, Forbes Five-Star status, and the AAA Five Diamond Award. Their kitchen-to-farm zero-waste system, thoughtful land stewardship, and care for local artisans reflect a broader mission: to inspire guests to value locality, craftsmanship, and ecological integrity.

In essence, SingleThread is more than a place to eat or sleep—it’s a living ecosystem, where every meal, bloom, and moment is a tribute to the natural world. Whether savoring delicate courses in a candlelit dining room, learning in the field or studio, or simply immersing in the landscape from one of the farm’s cozy rooms, guests experience hospitality that blends artistry, sustainability, and heartfelt intention.
