Ser is an artisanal winery based out of Santa Cruz, CA, specializing in varietal, vineyard designate, old world style wines, produced in a natural way to allow the expression of their varietal character and the vineyards from which they are sourced. Ser means “to be” in the Spanish language. In her wines, winemaker Nicole Walsh works to express the true being of each grape variety.

Nicole Walsh

A native of Michigan, Nicole studied horticulture before working with Randall Grahm at Bonny Doon Vineyard in Santa Cruz County. In the two decades since, Nicole has held every position in wine production, from associate winemaker to vineyard manager to grower relations manager. These days, she operates Ser Winery and produces varietal-specific, vineyard-designate wines primarily from the Central Coast and Central California.

Ser began its first vintage in 2012 with wines sourced from vineyards influenced by the Pacific Ocean. Cool climate, central coast vineyards including the appellations of the Santa Cruz Mountains, Cienega Valley, Santa Lucia Highlands and more recently Edna Valley are the primary sources of fruit.
