Wine has been cultivated at Schloss Johannisberg for 1200 years, and since 1720 exclusively Riesling. Here is the cradle of one of the oldest and noblest grape varieties in the world. From the long history of Schloss Johannisberg springs passion, responsibility, and pride to produce an outstanding Riesling and to inspire people for it.
50 hectares in size, facing exactly south. A quartzite hill in front of the Taunus massif. With an inclination of 45 degrees, the mountain extends up to 182 meters above sea level and offers the grapes perfect sunlight. Schloss Johannisberger Terroir in combination with their passion for top quality is the basis of exceptional wines.
North of Johannisberg stretches the approximately 300-hectare castle forest. The wood of the local oaks serves as the starting material for the production of the wine barrels that are used by us for wine production. The natural texture of the wood, its structure, and ingredients promote the character and quality of their top Riesling.
