Bougrier

Saint Georges sur Cher, France

Since 1885, six generations have left an indelible mark on the history of the Bougrier Family. It all began when Achille Guenault-Cousin discovered the magnificent Plateau des Hauts Lieux in the Touraine region, situated in the town of Saint Georges sur Cher. This extraordinary terroir and its wine potential sparked a passion within him, leading to the creation of Domaine Guenault. Little did he know that this would be the foundation of a remarkable family legacy.

..

Over the years, the six generations have contributed to the growth and renown of the Bougrier Family’s vineyards in the Loire Valley. Thus, in 1988, Noël Bougrier, the fifth generation, took the reins and propelled the Family House to new heights. He fulfilled the dreams of his predecessors by expanding the domain to encompass the entire Loire Valley.

This expansion resulted in the establishment of three wineries: Les Caves Tourangelles in the Touraine region, Les Caves de l’Angevine in Anjou, and Les Caves de la Nantaise in Muscadet. Noël, through his extensive travels, also became a true ambassador for the vineyard, promoting the House and its wines on a global scale. As a result, Bougrier wines now grace some of the finest tables worldwide.

In 2015, Nicolas Bougrier, the sixth generation, joined the family business, working with his father to fulfill their shared goal: to showcase the Loire Valley’s finest expressions with utmost respect for the land and its people, and representing the House alongside his sister, Sophie, who tirelessly promotes their wines both in France and abroad.

For over a century, the Bougrier Family has worked tirelessly to establish the Loire Valley’s wines as some of the finest in the world. Today, they are recognized as one of the last remaining family houses to cover the entirety of the Loire Valley, where unparalleled diversity, delicacy, and lightness are boasted, and an incredible array of terroirs and microclimates provide the perfect conditions for crafting unique wines.

.

.

Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Loire Valley showcases breathtaking landscapes shaped by both nature and human hands, exemplified by the illustrious Châteaux of the Loire. Amongst this mesmerizing backdrop, the Bougrier Family cultivates their vineyards, covering over 100 hectares across two domains: Domaine Guenault and Domaine de Lusqueneau. These estates consistently produce award-winning wines, including Touraine Sauvignon Blanc, Touraine Rouge, Touraine Rosé, Rosé de Loire, Rosé, Cabernet of Anjou, and Muscadet.

As they proudly look to the future, the Bougrier Family remains deeply rooted in their past. With each passing generation, they continue their quest to reveal the very best the Loire Valley has to offer. Their unwavering commitment to excellence and respect for their land ensures that the Bougrier legacy will endure for generations to come.
