Viu Manent

Cunaco, Chile

Viu Manent, a prominent Chilean winery, stands as a testament to the rich history, dedication, and passion of the Viu family. Established in 1935 by the visionary Miguel Viu-García and his sons Agustín and Miguel Viu-Manent, Bodegas Viu began its journey in Santiago de Chile, bottling and selling wines under the brand “Vinos Viu.” Little did they know that their modest beginnings would pave the way for a remarkable legacy in the world of winemaking.

The turning point for Viu Manent came in 1966 when Miguel Viu Manent fulfilled his lifelong dream of crafting his own wines. He acquired the Hacienda San Carlos de Cunaco in Colchagua, an estate steeped in tradition. This extraordinary property comprised 150 hectares of vineyards adorned with noble, pre-phylloxera vines, an elegant winery, and a stately manor house. Notably, this estate had long been a trusted source of wine for the Viu family’s Vinos Viu brand.

The Viu family’s love for their property, their heritage, and their traditions resonates deeply within their work. They see winemaking as the driving force that propels them towards fulfilling their dreams. With an unwavering belief in transcendence and a commitment to putting their hearts into everything they do, the Viu family strives for excellence in all aspects of their winemaking journey.

Central to their philosophy is an appreciation for wine’s living essence and its profound sensitivity. They recognize Chile as a privileged territory for wine production and view Colchagua as a magical valley blessed with exceptional soil, climate, and grapes. At Viu Manent, they place great emphasis on attention to detail and environmental stewardship. Their approach harmoniously blends history, tradition, innovation, and modernity to advance towards their ultimate goal.

.

Teamwork forms another integral aspect of Viu Manent’s ethos. They value the talents, professionalism, and dedication of their staff, recognizing that it is through collaboration that they can bring their philosophy to life. This shared commitment is woven into the fabric of their daily mission, ensuring that every bottle of Viu Manent wine embodies their core values.

A key focus for Viña Viu Manent is sustainability, which lies at the heart of their strategic pillars and work philosophy. The company is dedicated to integrating environmental preservation and respect into every aspect of their operations. From adopting eco-friendly practices and emphasizing recycling to managing wastewater and improving energy efficiency, Viu Manent strives to lead the way in sustainable winemaking. Furthermore, their active participation in the Wine, Climate Change, and Biodiversity Program at the Austral University of Chile underscores their commitment to making a positive impact on the environment.

.

In their pursuit of excellence, Viu Manent has achieved international recognition for their commitment to producing vegan wines. For the third consecutive year, they have received certification from V-Label, meeting all the stringent parameters for International Vegan accreditation. This accolade validates that Viu Manent’s winemaking process and production methods do not involve any animal components. V-Label conducted a comprehensive analysis of their wines, scrutinizing their composition, as well as the additives used during the winemaking process.

Viu Manent stands as an exemplar of Chilean winemaking excellence, blending tradition, innovation, and a profound respect for the environment. The Viu family’s unwavering commitment to their craft, their roots, and their community shines through in every bottle they produce. As you savor a glass of Viu Manent wine, you become part of their remarkable journey, marked by a deep love for the land.
