For over 80 years, the Pérez Cuevas family has dedicated themselves to the land. Their winemaking journey began in their ancestral winery in Quel, a village with a rich winemaking tradition spanning over 300 years. As their passion grew, they felt compelled to share their profound respect and awe for their wines with the world. This led to the establishment of Ontañon – El Templo del Vino in Logroño, a unique place that goes beyond being just a winery. It also serves as a museum, where their wines age under the watchful gaze of ancient gods and legendary heroes, depicted through sculpture, stained glass, and paintings. This homage to wine, deeply rooted in their cultural heritage, is showcased through the Culto al Vino at Ontañon.

Ontañon’s vineyards and wineries are the realization of a lifelong dream for the Pérez Cuevas family. The village of Quel, where the family has its beginnings, has been a benchmark for viticulture in Rioja Oriental for centuries. For over 80 years, they have cultivated their vineyards, and now Raquel, Leticia, Rubén, and María, belonging to the fourth generation, carry on the family’s legacy through their wines, origins, and the unique way they pay tribute to wine itself. The love for wines and their vineyard land is passed down, ensuring that someday, the fifth generation will continue this cherished tradition.
