Established in the picturesque Saint-Antonin-du-Var, Château Mentone stands as one of the oldest vineyards in the esteemed Côtes de Provence appellation. With a history dating back to the 1840s, this renowned estate spans 170 hectares across the municipalities of Saint-Antonin-du-Var and Entrecasteaux, boasting 32 hectares of meticulously tended vines. The vineyard’s diverse selection of grape varieties, including 7 out of the 11 authorized by the appellation, enables the production of Côtes de Provence wines in three vibrant colors: rosé, white, and red.

Devoted to organic farming practices, the entire Château Mentone vineyard adheres to the stringent standards required for AB certification, bestowed by the ECOCERT organization. Since assuming ownership in 2003, Marie-Pierre Caille has diligently nurtured the estate, revitalizing the vines and modernizing the winemaking facilities to uphold a tradition of excellence. While embracing innovation, Caille remains committed to preserving historical plots, some of which boast Carignan vines over 80 years old and Clairette vines over 50 years old.
In her pursuit of soil quality restoration and biodiversity enhancement after years of conventional viticulture, Caille undertook the conversion to biodynamic practices between 2008 and 2012. Today, Château Mentone limits production to average yields of 35hl/ha, ensuring complete grape maturity and an authentic expression of the vineyard’s healthy, natural, and historic terroir.

The 32 hectares of vines at Château Mentone thrive in an exceptional terroir and climate, which favor late ripening of the grapes. This unique characteristic imparts finesse and elegance to the whites and rosés, while the reds possess a remarkable balance of power and refinement. The vineyard boasts an array of grape varieties, including Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, Rolle, and Clairette.
The terroir comprises clay-limestone soil, permeable and studded with stones, while the continental climate further contributes to the distinctive character of the wines.
