Marchesi Antinori, a prominent Italian winemaking family, has been producing wine for over 600 years, with its roots tracing back to 1385. Their legacy is celebrated in the Antinori nel Chianti Classico winery, located in the heart of Tuscany, which showcases the family’s expertise while setting a benchmark for modern wine production.

Designed by Marco Casamonti and built using locally sourced materials such as wood, glass, terracotta, and COR-TEN steel, the winery blends harmoniously into the surrounding landscape of olive groves and oak trees. It boasts gravity-flow vinification and naturally cool cellars to reduce energy consumption.

The winery forms the headquarters of Marchesi Antinori, encompassing other estates, including Tenuta Tignanello, which produces the famous Tignanello wine, a favorite among the international glitterati, from Meghan Markle to Barack Obama. Visitors can choose from three types of tours that include an introduction to the Antinori family’s history, philosophy, and extensive art collection housed in the winery’s museum area.

The estate’s restaurant, Rinuccio 1180, serves traditional Tuscan dishes made with local ingredients in an elegant, modern style, with a panoramic view of the surrounding hills from the roof terrace. The winery’s wines, made primarily from Sangiovese grapes grown in 4.6 hectares of vineyards, are gently handled to encourage pure fruit aromas in balanced wines with supple tannins. The estate also grows traditional local grape varieties like Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Colorino, Malvasia Nera, and Mammolo, along with small amounts of international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
