Kathleen Willcox is an award-winning food and drinks journalist, features writer and co-founder of Thinking Outside the Bottle. After graduating with a degree in English literature from Providence College, she took a job as a general beat reporter at the Lewisboro Ledger. From there, she moved to New York City and learned the art and science of writing about data for Thomson Financial. Kathleen looks forward to using Thinking Outside the Bottle as a way to connect more wine lovers to the kind of terroir-driven, sustainably-minded, small-scale producers that made her fall in love with wine in the first place.

Currently, Kathleen Willcox writes about wine, food and culture from her home in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. She is keenly interested in sustainability issues, and the business of making ethical drinks and food. She travels as frequently as she can to learn more from wine growers and makers, brewers, distillers and farmers all over the world. Kathleen Willcox recently co-founded Honesta Coffee, a single-origin coffee brand grown and roasted by women in Brazil, for everyone.

Kathleen won a Best of Edible 2019 award for “Michelle Hunter, Culinary Gangster,” published in Edible Capital District. She has recently co-author a book titled “Hudson Valley Wine: A History of Taste & Terroir” with Tessa Edick, where the authors uncover the hundreds of years, unrelenting pride, determination and ingenuity behind Hudson Valley wines. Kathleen’s work appears regularly in Wine Searcher, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Industry Advisor and many other publications.
