Iker Berasaluce is a 32 year old wine writer, judge, educator and content creator from Spain, living in Vienna, Austria. Holding a PhD in Chemistry, he decided to turn his passion into his job. His first advance in the professional wine sphere was at the Federal Research Center and Oenology school of Klosterneuburg, Austria.
In Austria he acquired a thorough understanding of winemaking and vineyard management as well as took part in several wine research projects. Moreover, he obtained the Austrian wine taster certificate and became a member of the official Austrian committee for wine certification.

Iker then worked at selected wineries in Austria and in South Africa while collaborating in research projects of the Oenology department of the University of Stellenbosch. As a consequence of the 2020 pandemic, Iker returned to Austria and joined the Austrian Wine Academy (Austrian WSET provider). He completed levels 2 and 3 with honours and is expected to complete his Diploma in October.

Today, Iker is the Coravin Austria ambassador. He also gained experience in the fine wine area. He manages an increasingly successful Instagram account @ikerwine focusing on professional wine-related content with currently more than 15k followers. Iker has also advised local wineries, written wine-related articles, organised wine tastings and seminars and judged in international wine championships, such as the Berlin Wine Trophy and AWC Vienna. Starting next year, he will also be a judge at the International Wine Challenge in London and the Danube Wine Challenge in Slovakia.
