Handley Cellars is a small, family-owned winery in California’s Mendocino County. Founded by Milla Handley in 1982, Handley Cellars was the first estate to feature a woman’s name on the wine label. Their quality starts with their CCOF Certified Organic Estate Vineyards in Anderson Valley. They are located at the northwest end of the Anderson Valley on 59 acres of the original Guntly Ranch. They offer tastings and tours by appointment in their garden courtyard.

Lulu Handley

Lulu is the younger of Milla Handley’s two daughters. While she studied Rhetoric at UC Berkeley, she cultivated a deep love of agriculture and ecology. After graduating, Lulu traveled to Peru to learn from traditional subsistence farmers in the Andean altiplano, and then to Galicia, Spain to apprentice in the cellar at Do Ferreiro Winery and learn about the beauty of old vine Albariño.

Lulu carries forth the legacy of her mother, with an emphasis on sustainability and a strong vision to better connect guests to the land where she was raised. She shares and builds upon all that her mother created while continuing to nurture the winery and vineyards for future generations.
