Marisco Vineyards, a family-owned and operated winery, has established itself as a prominent wine producer in Marlborough, New Zealand. At the heart of Marisco Vineyards lies the iconic wine brand, The Ned, which has garnered widespread acclaim since its inception in 2006. The winery is the brainchild of esteemed winemaker Brent Marris, whose deep connection to Marlborough’s Wither Hills range inspired him to create The Ned.
Driven by the success of The Ned, Brent delved into his own family history to expand the winery’s portfolio. This led to the creation of the Kings’ Series brand in 2009, a collection of wines that pays homage to the colorful stories of Marris’ ancestors, the de Mariscos, known for their scandalous and notorious past.

The Craft Series is dedicated to individuals who have played pivotal roles in the growth and success of the winery. It began with a tribute to Brent’s father, John Marris, a true pioneer and founding father of the Marlborough wine industry. John spent years identifying suitable land for grape growing and served as Operations Manager and Viticultural Advisor for Montana wines.

Determined to ensure their legacy endures, Brent and Rosemary acquired the historic Leefield Station property in 2013. Transforming the land into vineyards while preserving its native bush and establishing a fully operational farm, the property holds immense promise. The subsequent development of the Leefield wine brand showcases the commitment of the Marris family to crafting exceptional wines deeply rooted in the region’s heritage.
The Marris family’s passion for winemaking is carried on by their four daughters, who grew up immersed in the vineyards and wineries. Emma, the eldest, followed in her father’s footsteps, studying winemaking at Roseworthy College and assuming the role of Production Winemaker. Meanwhile, Georgia has joined the marketing team, contributing her expertise and leaving her own mark on Marisco Vineyards.
