Champagne Baugé-Jouette

Épernay, France

Since its establishment in 1822, Champagne Baugé-Jouette has nurtured a proud heritage that spans five generations of winemakers. With 13 hectares of vineyards carefully distributed across the Champagne region’s most prestigious terroirs, including the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay, Côte des Blancs, Vallée de la Marne, and Sézannais, the estate has established itself as a beacon of quality and craftsmanship.

Following the revered méthode champenoise, Champagne Baugé-Jouette’s vineyards proudly cultivate the traditional grape varietals synonymous with the region’s renowned sparkling wines. The Chardonnay grape takes center stage, accounting for 50% of the estate’s plantings, while Pinot Noir contributes 10% and Pinot Meunier completes the harmonious trio with 40%.

Nestled in Épernay, the heart of Champagne, the winemaking process begins in the estate’s cellars. After a meticulous crafting process, each bottle of Champagne Baugé-Jouette finds its resting place in the depths of the 18th-century chalk cellars, which stretch 27 meters beneath the surface. This ideal aging environment maintains a constant temperature of 11°C, allowing the wines to develop complexity and finesse over time.

At the core of Champagne Baugé-Jouette’s success lies the rich tapestry of vineyard plots acquired and carefully nurtured over five generations. These 37 distinct parcels, including renowned names like “Le Bignart,” “Le Cloître,” and “Les Grimprets,” showcase the diverse terroirs and microclimates that contribute to the estate’s exquisite blend. With each harvest, the winemakers ensure that every grape from these esteemed vineyards expresses its full potential, showcasing the unique characteristics of its origin.

Throughout the seasons, the winemakers of Champagne Baugé-Jouette attentively observe the evolution of their living heritage. Nestled within the Champagne region’s renowned landscapes, each vineyard plot in the sun-kissed Coteaux Sud d’Épernay, the chalk-rich soils of the Côte des Blancs, the picturesque Vallée de la Marne, and the prestigious Sézannais contributes its own story to the final masterpiece.

Preserving the essence of tradition, the winemakers meticulously apply their expertise and dedication to crafting exceptional Champagnes. With unwavering attention to detail, each step of the winemaking process is meticulously executed, ensuring that the unique qualities of Champagne Baugé-Jouette’s vineyards are showcased in every bottle.

Honoring the land and its history, Champagne Baugé-Jouette is a testament to the timeless craftsmanship and commitment to quality that define the Champagne region. It is through this unwavering dedication to excellence that the estate upholds its legacy, producing Champagnes of unparalleled elegance, finesse, and character.
