Wine Leaders' Choice

California, North America

In the picturesque expanse of the western Russian River Valley lies a family legacy that dates back to the mid-1960s. At a time when most deemed the region unsuitable for producing quality still wine, Warren Dutton, a visionary farmer, saw the potential of growing grapes in this seemingly cool climate. Today, that vision thrives in the hands of Steve Dutton and Dan Goldfield, two individuals with distinct backgrounds united by their love for winemaking and the breathtaking landscapes that surround them.
.
Dan Goldfield’s journey to becoming a winemaker took a few detours before he found his true calling. Graduating from Boston’s Brandeis University, Dan initially pursued a career in research chemistry, but his adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors led him to the scenic landscapes of the West. The allure of skiing and hiking proved stronger than life in a laboratory, and it was a pivotal moment when his brother introduced him to the captivating 1969 Burgundies that sparked his dream of winemaking.
.
Together, they have elevated the wines of Dutton Ranch to new heights. Steve’s expert cultivation of the vineyards, combined with Dan’s masterful winemaking techniques, has resulted in wines that showcase the unique terroir of the Russian River Valley. Their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay offerings, in particular, have garnered acclaim from critics and enthusiasts alike, drawing attention to the region’s exceptional winemaking potential.
