Domaine Dubois
Burgundy, France
Domaine Dubois, a prestigious winemaking estate in Premeaux-Prissey near Nuits Saint Georges, boasts a rich history spanning back to the 17th century. The Dubois family’s journey in viticulture began with Emiland Dubois, the first recorded winegrower in their lineage. Fast forward to the present day, and the estate is flourishing under the management of Raphaël and Béatrice Dubois, who continue the legacy of crafting exceptional Burgundy wines.
The story of Domaine Dubois is one of generational commitment and passion. Louis Dubois, in the late 19th century, acquired his first plot of vines, laying the foundation for the estate’s growth. It was Louis’ son, Robert Dubois, who dedicated his life to nurturing the vineyards and expanded the estate by acquiring the first Nuits Premier Cru plot in 1961. The Dubois family’s dedication to winemaking continued with Régis Dubois and his wife Christiane, who significantly extended the vineyard from 4 to 22 hectares. Régis, recognizing the potential of their wines, commenced bottling the produce in 1969, enhancing the estate’s reputation.

Since 2006, Raphaël and Béatrice Dubois have been at the helm of Domaine Dubois. Raphaël oversees marketing and external relations, ensuring their wines reach connoisseurs worldwide. Béatrice, an oenologist with a genuine passion for wine, devotes her time to the production, analysis, and monitoring of the estate’s wines. While she previously engaged in vinification work in the southern hemisphere, her focus has shifted to conducting customer tastings around the globe.
Domaine Dubois has embraced sustainable viticulture, revolutionizing their winemaking practices. Domaine Dubois has been cultivating their vineyards without the use of chemicals for the past three years, a step taken as part of their transition towards organic farming. As such, the upcoming 2023 crop will receive official Organic certification. This transformation has resulted in complex vinification processes and the creation of nuanced, fruit-forward wines. The dedication to quality has not gone unnoticed, with professional tasters and buyers recognizing the estate’s remarkable evolution.

Spanning 22 hectares of vines, Domaine Dubois produces an impressive range of 22 appellations. From white and red Burgundy to premier cru wines such as Nuits Saint Georges and Savigny les Beaune, the estate showcases the diverse terroir of the region. The crown jewel of their production is the renowned Clos de Vougeot. With an annual output of approximately 100,000 bottles, Domaine Dubois caters to a wide customer base.
The estate’s wines find their way to various channels, with 25% sold directly to individuals seeking a taste of their excellence. An additional 15% is distributed through traditional café, hotel, and restaurant circuits, while French supermarkets account for 25% of sales. The international market plays a significant role, representing 35% of the estate’s exports to countries such as the USA, Canada, UK, Japan, Belgium, Netherlands, and Singapore.

Domaine Dubois stands as a testament to the family’s unwavering dedication and the enduring allure of Burgundy wines.
