Domaine de Trevallon

Winery Star

Wine Leaders' Choice

Saint-Étienne-du-Grès, France

A few steps from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, on the northern slopes of the Alpilles, is the Domaine de Trévallon, in the commune of Saint-Etienne-du-Grès.

Here, limestone is everywhere… It is omnipresent and shapes this rough and dry land. Around the old farmhouse, the vineyard extends over 17 hectares in this living and preserved nature. Titanic works are then undertaken to integrate the vine in this bewitching landscape of scrubland, holm oaks, olive trees, and almond trees. Rocks were blown up, the soil was worked in-depth and rock fragments were mixed with the soil.

Eloi Dürrbach planted the first vines in the Alpilles in 1973. 15 ha of reds composed of equal parts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah and 2 ha of whites composed mainly of Marsanne and Roussanne.
