Arnaud de Villeneuve

Rivesaltes, France

With a history that spans over a century, Maison Arnaud de Villeneuve stands as a testament to the dedication and passion of the men and women who have nurtured the land and vines. This rich heritage has been handed down through generations, and to ensure its continuation for the future, the Maison has embraced a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative that promotes environmentally-friendly wine-growing practices and the preservation of biodiversity.

Each wine crafted by Maison Arnaud de Villeneuve encapsulates a part of this illustrious history, with the goal of providing immediate enjoyment to customers. Taking your personal preferences into account, we strive to create wines that leave a lasting impression. Today, the Maison proudly includes 220 winegrowers bearing the name “Maison Arnaud de Villeneuve.” These individuals are the successors of the visionary winegrowers in Salses le Château, who, as early as 1909, joined forces to establish cooperative cellars in each village.

The strength of a team extends far beyond the sum of its individual skills, and a wine co-operative serves as a perfect example of this synergy. Men and women come together, working side by side in both the vineyards and cellars, driven by a shared passion for their craft and a common goal. Our vineyards predominantly reside in the northern part of the Roussillon plain, nestled between the Corbières, the Pyrenees, and the Mediterranean Sea. Spanning plains, valleys, hillsides, and terraces, our vineyards boast an incredible diversity of terroirs, ranging from red soil to black marl, pebbles to shale colluvium.

We consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to cultivate iconic Roussillon grape varieties such as Grenache and Muscat. Coupled with the diversity of soils and micro-climates that grace our vineyards, as well as our remarkable expertise, we harness this wealth to produce wines that showcase the myriad facets of the Roussillon region. From refreshing and gourmet Vins de Pays to our exceptional collection of Rivesaltes vintages, our portfolio exemplifies the abundant riches that Roussillon has to offer.

To meet the expectations of our customers and society as a whole, we have embraced a sustainable development initiative since 2012. Our commitment lies in conserving resources, protecting the environment and biodiversity, and strengthening our connections with the local community. As a testament to our dedication, we are proud to hold the “Vignerons Engagés” certification, the first CSR and sustainable label dedicated to the wine industry in France.

The “Vignerons Engagés” specifications adhere to the globally recognized ISO 26000 standard. Beyond being merely an environmental label, it represents a philosophy grounded in the principles of environmental sustainability.

Our brand pays homage to ARNAU de VILANOVA, a 13th-century Catalan physician who taught at the University of Montpellier and served as the appointed doctor to the kings and queens of Barcelona and Perpignan. Known for developing plant-based, alcohol, and wine-based medicines, his contributions continued to be valued over the centuries. He also formulated a recipe for a delightful and distinctive wine, which the winegrowers of Roussillon further refined and perfected, leading to the renowned Vins Doux Naturels.

In honor of this remarkable individual, we have proudly marketed our wines under the name Arnaud de Villeneuve for over three decades, carrying forward his legacy and the spirit of excellence that he embodied.
