The journey of Corison Winery began in 1987 when Cathy Corison set out on a quest to find the finest Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from prime benchland vineyards between Rutherford and St. Helena. Her unwavering commitment was to create wines that genuinely captured the essence of the land and spoke of its heritage. These vineyards’ well-drained alluvial soils, steeped in viticultural history dating back to the late 1800s, became the foundation for crafting balanced, age-worthy, and world-class wines.

The early years saw Cathy sourcing fruit and utilizing space in others’ wineries, but in 1995, everything changed with the acquisition of Kronos Vineyard. This remarkable property, with a century-old farming legacy, marked the beginning of a new era. It provided both an estate vineyard and a canvas upon which to build a winery. In 1999, the elegant Victorian-style winery barn, designed by William Martin, took shape, becoming the heart of Corison Winery.

In 2015, the family’s commitment to their craft expanded further with the purchase of Sunbasket, a neighboring vineyard located just a stone’s throw from the winery. This addition strengthened their ability to create wines that consistently displayed the remarkable characteristics of their cherished corner of the Napa Valley.
