Champagne Collery

Ay, France

Founded in 1893 by Jules-Anatole Collery during the art nouveau period, Maison Collery has a rich history of producing exceptional champagne wines. From its early days, the house broke conventions by champagnizing and marketing its bottles, a departure from the traditional practice of selling grapes. Jules-Anatole’s innovative approach earned him a gold medal in Paris in 1904, which he cleverly used to expand his sales.

The Collery family’s commitment to excellence spanned generations. Pierre, Jules-Anatole’s son, focused on vineyard management and winemaking, while Genevieve’s trade connections in Paris solidified the reputation of Collery champagnes.

Jean Collery, a politically engaged individual, made significant contributions to the world of champagne, including creating the Collery rosé by maceration. On his part, Alain Collery, known for his visionary mindset, pioneered wine tourism with the establishment of the Champagne Museum in Aÿ, highlighting the enchanting nature of champagne.

Today, Maison Collery remains true to its historical roots in Aÿ, leveraging the renowned Pinot Noir grapes from the Champenois Grands Crus that have been instrumental in its success. With an unwavering commitment to quality, the house strives to provide extraordinary experiences for customers through every sip of their champagnes.

Aÿ’s terroir, encompassing a hillside on the Reims mountain spread over 360 hectares, predominantly consists of Pinot Noir vines. The diverse elevations and exposures of this region contribute to the unique mineral expressions found in the champagnes. From fresh and slender to greedy and aromatic, Maison Collery’s wines exhibit a wide range of flavors, accentuated by their beautiful vinosity.

The blending process lies at the heart of Maison Collery’s winemaking philosophy. With meticulous care, Maison Collery expertly combines carefully chosen wines from different Grand Crus, akin to assembling a puzzle. This process leads to the creation of unique blends that highlight the house’s diverse methods in working with grape varieties and winemaking practices. Whether one’s preference lies with their Blends, Singles, or Vintages, Maison Collery’s champagnes capture the very essence of each element, resulting in truly extraordinary and expressive wines.

When visiting Maison Collery, guests can enjoy the villa’s dedicated spaces designed for tasting, relaxation, and shared experiences. The lounge, cellar, rooms, terrace, and workshop provide an immersive environment where visitors can connect with the passion and savoir-faire behind each bottle. For a unique experience, guests can even indulge in a picturesque vineyard picnic.

Maison Collery is more than just a champagne house; it is a custodian of tradition, an innovator in the industry, and a representative of the remarkable terroir of Aÿ. With a commitment to quality, a deep respect for the land, and a desire to share their passion, Maison Collery continues to delight connoisseurs and create unforgettable champagne experiences.
