He started as a Sommelier, swiftly ascending to become a Wine Director at some of Vancouver’s top restaurants. His discerning palate and deep knowledge of wines from around the world made him a trusted authority in the industry.

Driven by an insatiable thirst for wine knowledge, Chris pursued and completed his Level 4 Diploma from the esteemed Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) in London, England. This rigorous program, known for producing top-tier wine experts globally, marked a significant milestone in his career. Additionally, Chris became a WSET Certified Wine Educator, sharing his insights and passion for wine with enthusiasts and professionals.

Going beyond the Canadian borders, Chris embarked on a global exploration, learning from some of the finest winemakers worldwide. This hands-on experience not only enriched his understanding of winemaking techniques but also inspired him to become a winemaker himself.

Partnering with like-minded individuals, Chris joined Res Fortes Wines in the South of France as Assistant Winemaker and Managing Director. Amidst sun-drenched vineyards and a rich winemaking heritage, he honed his craft, creating wines that reflect both the terroir and his unique winemaking philosophy.

In early 2021, Chris relocated to the captivating city of Funchal, Madeira, drawn by its natural beauty and rich wine culture. Here, he opened Pour Choices Wine School & Consulting, a haven for wine education, tasting experiences, and consulting services. This venture showcases Chris’s dedication to sharing his knowledge and passion for wine with the vibrant community of Madeira.
