Château Guilhem
Malviès, France
Established in the picturesque region of Lauragais, Chateau Guilhem has been an emblem of winemaking tradition since its construction in 1791 by the visionary Marquis Edmond d’Auberjeon for his son Edouard. The estate has been in the family for generations, with a profound connection to the land dating back to the 15th century. In 1878, the property was sold to Léon Pariot, a prominent businessman from Limoux, who managed the vast 250-acre estate consisting of vineyards, fields, and woods for two decades.
.

.
In the 1980s, Brigitte took charge of the estate, simultaneously managing the property and establishing an oenology lab in Limoux. Her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to producing exceptional wines led to the successful sale of over 100,000 bottles across ten different countries.
Since 2004, the estate has been managed by Brigitte’s son, Bertrand. With his vast experience in the world of wine, Bertrand implemented the Malepère appellation in 2007, showcasing the unique blends that the region of Languedoc Roussillon has to offer. In 2010, he made the decision to convert all the vineyards to organic cultivation, further enhancing the quality and distinctiveness of the wines produced. Today, Chateau Guilhem’s wines enjoy international acclaim, with over 350,000 bottles sold in more than 20 countries and numerous prestigious awards from renowned competitions and wine magazines.
.

.
Bertrand’s ultimate goal is to continue crafting wines that reflect the terroir of the Malepère appellation, with its unique combination of clay limestone slopes and the influences of the nearby Pyrenees, the Atlantic, and the Mediterranean. However, his deepest aspiration is to preserve the estate as a cherished family heritage, ensuring that the culture, traditions, and passion for winemaking are passed down through generations.
With more than 35 acres of vineyards flourishing on the sun-kissed slopes, Chateau Guilhem cultivates a selection of grape varieties, including Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards’ altitude, ranging from 250 to 400 meters, coupled with the surrounding natural influences, contributes to the unique flavors and characteristics of the wines.
.

.
At Chateau Guilhem, the dedication and commitment of a passionate team are integral to the winemaking process. Bertrand has carefully assembled a team of individuals who share a deep love for the craft and take pride in offering the estate’s exquisite wines at their shop and during wine tastings. Their enthusiasm and expertise shine through as they guide visitors in discovering the delightful flavors and nuances that define Chateau Guilhem’s wines.
Step into Chateau Guilhem and immerse yourself in a world of exceptional wines, where tradition meets innovation, and the legacy of a family’s winemaking heritage is celebrated with every sip.
