The winery at Castello di Bolgheri, built in 1796, remained under the ownership of the Della Gherardesca family for generations. Today, it is owned by the Zileri Dal Verme family through female inheritance. Since the mid-1990s, Count Federico Zileri Dal Verme has led the estate, blending innovation with a deep respect for tradition, and dedicating to crafting wines that are both refined and authentically expressive of the Bolgheri terroir.

Castello di Bolgheri’s vineyards, set at an altitude of 70 meters, are strategically located along the famed avenue of cypress trees, with rows aligned perpendicular to the Mediterranean Sea. This positioning benefits the vines with sea breezes that moderate summer heat and provide milder winter temperatures.
