Sonja Madgevski

Starting in 2017, the Casa Dumetz label began producing one singular Pinot Noir from the Sta. Rita Hills. Each vintage explores a different, unique vineyard within the appellation. In the 2020 vintage, they are introducing a kindred Chardonnay to the Casa Dumetz label, sourced exclusively from the LaBarge Estate off of Sweeney Canyon road planted on the western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills.

A journalist by training and the daughter of an immigrant farmworker, Sonja Madgevski earned a Fulbright Scholarship in 1998 to The Republic of Macedonia, where she traces her lineage.

While traveling, Sonja toured her family’s property, which included ancient grapevines. She returned to California inspired to make wine in her garage, picking up enology and viticulture coursework at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria.
