Carla Urrunaga, although mostly known as @chezcarlita, is a food engineer, wine taster, communicator, educator and simply a great wine lover. She was born in Lima, Peru but fourteen years ago she came to Chile out of love and that love extended to one of the flagship products of this country: wine.

Carla loves studying and sharing what she has learned. She completed the WSET 1, 2 and 3 and then decided to continue her studies at the American school “Wine Scholar Guild”. Here she specialized in wines from Italy and Spain obtaining her diplomas with the highest distinction and is currently a candidate for the French Wine Scholar.

In 2015, she created the ChezCarlita brand and the website chezcarlita.com to share news and articles about wines and gastronomy. Why ChezCarlita? This expression in French means “At Carlita’s home” since when Carla organizes tastings and dinners she makes them at home, where she cookes her own unique recipes. Apart from the website, Carla is active on her Instagram @chezcarlita where she tells about the wine world and organizes different activities such as tastings, interviews and trips for her large community of winelovers.

With a growing desire to learn and teach, a little over a year ago, Carla decided to create her own school “La Academia del Vino” (@la_academiadelvino) where she offers wine courses to the entire Latin American community. Currently Carla Urrunaga is a Wine school director and she connects with wine lovers from different countries. At the same time, she works as a communicator and organizer of wine events and as a judge at the Catad’Or World Wine Awards.
