At Camel Valley, they have been producing award-winning, world-class wines in a beautiful corner of Cornwall since 1989. What is it that makes our wines so good? It’s really quite simple – an idyllic setting on sun-drenched slopes near the famous Camel River; excellent grapes that perfectly suit the soil and climate; a respect for traditional vineyard practices combined with a modern approach to wine making and, most importantly, a passion for creating wines that provide pure pleasure.

When ex-RAF pilot Bob Lindo and his wife Annie planted their first eight thousand vines in 1989, they never dreamed of the phenomenal success they would achieve within 2 decades. They had bought their farm in the heart of the Cornish countryside several years earlier, seeking a change from service life and the perfect place to bring up their young family, and initially farmed sheep and cattle. Each summer they watched the grass turn brown on the sun-drenched slopes of the Camel Valley, and wondered if vines might enjoy such an aspect. Sam Lindo, the second generation winemaker has now taken over as Winemaker at Camel Valley. He worked at a top winery in New Zealand in 2006 and brought back a lot of what he learned there.

At Camel Valley guided tours are relaxed and friendly and the location is stunning. Sitting on the terrace sipping Camel Valley wine on a summer’s afternoon is magical. You’ll find our attitude refreshingly down to earth – there’s no snobbery here, just a deep and enthusiastic love of winemaking.
