With a history dating back to the 1400s, this ancient estate has evolved into a beacon of excellence under the guidance of founder Andrew Weeber, a South African visionary who recognized the potential of these gentle south-facing slopes.

From the moment their first vines were planted in 2004, Gusbourne’s unwavering vision has been to create the finest vintage wines using grapes exclusively sourced from their own vineyards. Today, their 230 acres of estate vineyards span across Kent and Sussex, producing exceptional 100% vintage-dated wines.

The heart of Gusbourne’s winemaking lies in their commitment to quality and sustainability. Chief Vineyard Manager Jon Pollard champions a low-intervention approach, meticulously tending to the soil, vines, and grapes. Only the highest quality fruit, meticulously hand-picked by their skilled vineyard team, makes the cut. Gusbourne’s unique terroirs and mild microclimates, complemented by the Burgundian clones of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, lend depth and complexity to their wines.

Guiding the winemaking process is Chief Winemaker Charlie Holland, a three-time winner of the prestigious IWSC English Wine Producer of the Year. From the gentle pressing of hand-picked grapes to the art of blending and extended ageing on lees and cork, Charlie’s expertise ensures the best expression of Gusbourne’s wines year after year. Craftsmanship, precision, and a profound respect for nature come together to tell a unique story with every bottle produced.

Winemaking at Gusbourne is a slow and exacting craft, characterized by their low-intervention ethos. Hand-picked grapes, gently pressed in whole bunches, yield only the finest juice. From fermentation in thermoregulated stainless-steel tanks to the careful selection of oak barrels, blending, lees ageing, and bottling, every step follows self-imposed methods of testing, tasting, and refining. The bottles are carefully stacked in the cellar to initiate the lees-ageing process, essential for adding depth and complexity. After disgorgement, Gusbourne’s wines undergo extended ageing on Diam Mytik corks, gaining further character and finesse.
